Flight school
If you want to become a hot air balloon pilot, we are here and ready to help. The best time for the training is from April till November but there is also a possibility to flight in winter. The capacity of students is not limited and you can apply any time. Our instructors have worked with students for many years. They are experienced and belong to the Czech pilot elite. We also cooperate with pilots from abroad.
We have trained pilots since 2007 and provided them with the top quality training possibilities. Aleš Kubíček, designer and hot air balloon pilot, is head of the methodic of the training. He has taught tens or hundreds of pilots to fly since 1983. The training is similar to the one in a driving school – divided into practical flights and theoretical lectures. Both parts are topped with an exam. The practical training is individual and mainly on weekends. The student pilot needs to fly at least 16 hours under supervision; typically it takes 20 hours. The school is located in Vysočina region which allows simulating different flight situations in various meteorological conditions thanks to its relief.
The theoretical lectures take place on 3 weekend seminars during which you go over all compulsory subjects. The detailed conditions are provided in section “Theoretical training”. The lectures take place in February and March every year. In case of a sufficient number and interest of students the lectures can be arranged at any time during the year.
The entire training can be provided in English.
The Balloon Castles is granted qualification for examination as well. This means: you go through the training, we examine you and then you only pick up your new pilot license at the Aircraft registry. We can also help you with your pilot license validation if issued abroad (or vice versa) thank to our cooperation with the CAA.
